Internet Explorer Vulnerability Identified

I’ve just learned of a new security issue with Internet Explorer that affects all versions from 6 through 9. Those of you who use IE as your default browser may want to consider Firefox or Chrome or other alternatives until Microsoft fixes the problem with IE. The following article is from the Windows Secrets newsletter (a resource I highly recommend for Windows users):

I do not know yet if this affects IE for the Mac, but hopefully those of you using Macs are using Safari or Firefox instead anyway.

I personally have not used IE for years except when absolutely necessary because the alternatives have been so much better in so many ways, however, I know there are many who use IE because it came with their machine or whatever. If you’re one of those folks, please consider using an alternative browser at least until this issue is resolved.

Practice safe computing!

    Hi, John—

I’m so glad I have a MAC and that I use Firefox. It’s just one less thing to think about in a world that overwhelms me anyway. If it wasn’t for you, John, I’d be completely lost!

    Thanks for the info.

    Warmly,

    Rev. Diane

      Hi, Diane,

The figurative bullseye on your back is much smaller, to be sure, but unfortunately, Macs and Firefox are not immune to the bad guys. There is no such thing as a malware-proof machine today, nor will there likely ever be.

The good news is that the best defense for any machine is common sense. 🙂

      Thanks,

      John
