Internet Explorer Security Fix Coming

The Microsoft Security Response Center blog has posted information regarding the Internet Explorer security vulnerability discovered earlier this week. The article is here:

Internet Explorer Fix it available now; Security Update scheduled for Friday

There is a link in the article to a Fix-it which will alleviate the security issue until a formal update is released tomorrow. Two caveats about the Fix-it, however:

  1. It doesn’t work on 64-bit versions of IE
  2. IE must be up to date with patches and updates

I’m glad to see the rapid response to this issue even though I don’t personally use IE except when there is no alternative (read: when websites insist on doing IE-specific things). Those of you who do use IE can breathe a little easier for now.
